1. How To Get On The Water

You don't need to own a boat to live this life.

One of the easiest ways to get started is through programs like Freedom Boat Club - giving you access to boats without the hassle of ownership. Not ready for this type of committment, we understand and other options are available.

  • Daily Local Rentals
  • Friends or Family

No matter the method, it's about getting on the water and creating new memories.

2. What to Bring

Every successful boat day starts before you ever leave the dock. A little preparation goes a long way and having a well-stocked “boat bag” means you can focus on the fun instead of what you forgot.

The goal isn’t to bring everything! It’s to bring the right things so your day runs smoothly. When everyone’s comfortable, hydrated, and ready for whatever the day brings, the experience becomes effortless.

If you're not sure where to start, we've got you covered. Check out our Boat Day Checklist to make sure you're fully ready to explore more, make memories, and enjoy every moment on the water.

3. Make It Fun For Everyone

Boating isn't about the boat - it's about what happens on it and where the wake can take you. It's the laughter between destinations, the unexpected discoveries, and the memories that stick long after the day is over.

  • Let the kids help navigate
  • Pack their favorite snacks
  • Plan multiple stops to explore
  • Don't rush into water sports
  • Create your own traditions

At the end of it all, the wake you leave behind isn't just in the water. It's in the memories you create together with your family and friends.

4. Start Small, Then Explore More

Your first trip doesn't need to be perfect, it just needs to happen. The goal isn't to master everything on day one. It's to get comfortable, build confidence, and create that first spark that makes you and your family want to come bakc out again.

  • Start with a short ride
  • Choose calm water
  • Keep it simple
  • Have low expectations
  • Then  build from there

Because every great adventure on the water starts the same way: one simple trip that truns into something more.

5. Bring Some Toys

Keep it simple and keep it fun! The right mix of activities keeps kids engaged and excited to explore.

  • Water toys for all ages
  • Buckets & nets for shoreline exploring
  • Fishing poles for hands-on fun (*Check out your local regulations)
  • Towables or snorkel gear for older kids
  • Simple games to spark curiosity

Want to go further? Check out our Activity Shets to spark converstation and keep the adventure going on and off the water.
